Falling in love again!

Readings  Romans 5-8

Don’t you love those shirts.  Too bad the little baby didn’t get one.

No, we are not getting a new sponsor for these letters.

I love looking back at old pictures.  They bring back great memories.

Dear loved ones,

I am falling in love with the letter of Romans.  It is probably more correct to say that I am falling more in love with our God. It is great to look back at these old “pictures” of God’s love for us.   I think when we get done going through Paul’s letters, we need to go back on a word by word dissection of Romans. 🙂  In reading through the first 8 chapters there is too much to comprehend, too much to try to write about, too much to know where to start, and when to finish.  Please spend some time for yourself reviewing the truths in Romans.  Let God show you what He wants you to know.

Romans 5:6 (NIV)
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

This verse stuck out as I was reading.  “When we were still powerless”.  Two verses later, Paul says, “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  We were the ungodly in verse 6.   We were the sinners in verse 8. We were powerless.  “Were” is a key word.   So now what ARE we, and what do we enjoy?  Here is just a few things of what I came across in chapters 5-8 of Romans.  Chew on these morsels.

If we are followers of Christ, we enjoy the following:

Justified(viewed just as if we never sinned).

Saved from God’s wrath.

Reconciled to God.

Saved through His life.

Overflowed by His grace

Given the righteousness of Christ.

Reigning in life.

Recipients of  eternal life.

Died to sin.

Baptized into Christ.

Baptized into His death.

Buried with Him.

Raised with Christ to new life.

United with Him in death.

Untied with Jesus in His resurrection.

Old self crucified.

No longer slaves to sin.

Able to offer our body to God.

We live under grace, not the law.

Belong to Christ.

Can serve in the new way of the Spirit.

Our inner being delights in God’s law.

Jesus Christ rescued us from my body of death.

We are not condemned as I am in Christ.

We are free from the law of sin and death.

The righteous requirements of the law have been fully met.

The Spirit of God lives in us.

We are controlled by the Spirit of God.

Our spirits are now alive.

God is our Father.

The Spirit allows us to call out “Abba”, or “Daddy”.

We are children of God.

We are co-heirs with Christ.

Creation will be one day released from it’s bondage.

Our bodies will one day be redeemed.

We have great hope.

The Spirit helps us in our weakness.

The Spirit intercedes for us.

The Spirit intercedes for us in accordance with God’s will.

In all circumstances God works for the good of those who love Him.

God has planned and is carrying out His purpose of conforming me and you to the likeness of His Son.

We have been justified and will be glorified, guaranteed!

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
No one can bring a charge against me.

Jesus is interceding for us right now.

Nothing or no one can separate us from the love of Christ.

We are more than conquerors.

Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Praise Him in the morning when you see the sun rising. Praise Him in the evening because He took you through the day.

Praise Him because He is going to take you through Eternity.  Praise Him because He lives within you now.  Praise Him because you are no longer powerless, because His Spirit resides in you!

Praise Him!  Praise Him! Praise Him!

Amen!!!!

Love,

Steve
