Too good to be true

Readings Mark 2

Would you believe that there was a million dollar check in this pile of mail?

Even though there were promises of big money in this pile, there was no legitimate check.

The lady whose mail this was, keeps wanting to believe the scams that come to her doorstep.

I keep telling her if it seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.

There are some things however that are too good to be true, yet are.

Mark 2:5 (NASB95)
5 And Jesus seeing their faith said* to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Dear family,

Ever get more than you bargained for?

I remember the best thing I ever got when I thought I was losing everything.  One night nearly 34 years ago, I was trying to release Lisa from any commitment she had with a particular loser (me), and we ended up getting engaged!  What a turn around!

We see in chapter two, this man trying to get healed.  He does eventually get healed, but in the meantime he has his sins forgiven!

Forget the healing, I will take the sins forgiven any day!

Free from the wrath of God.

Released from the condemnation of Hell for ever!

At peace with God.

Justified in God’s sight.

Enjoying the righteousness of Christ.

Now having received the life of Christ.

As believers we sometimes take for granted the forgiveness of sins, and keep seeking other things.

Remember that there is no greater love that can be shown than Jesus has already shown on the cross.

Praise God that that same love continues to envelope us forever more!

We are going to go on a snails pace through the book of Mark.

No fast food eating for a while.  Let’s chew slowly and enjoy the Words that come from the mouth of God!
