No, this is leftovers from a couple summers ago, not Thanksgiving Day.

How would you like to eat this if it was left out for a week?

Dear Family,

Pretty soon you better have all the leftovers eaten up from Thanksgiving Day!  It doesn’t take long for food to be corrupted by bacteria and aging factors.  Very soon, what was meant for you to enjoy and sustain life, will become distasteful and able to cause you to get sick and even die.

We do not have any “science experiments” in our refrigerator yet.

But unfortunately we have “science experiments” out in the world that are corrupting the view of God and His attempt to give us Life Eternal, so that we can enjoy Him.

Paul, in writing to the Galatians is very clear to them that there is one message, one Gospel, that is to be clung to, because if it is corrupted, it becomes useless, and ready to be tossed out like moldy leftovers.

Look at Galatians 2:16-21  as written in the Message:

Galatians 2:16-21 (MSG)
16 We know very well that we are not set right with God by rule-keeping but only through personal faith in Jesus Christ. How do we know? We tried it—and we had the best system of rules the world has ever seen! Convinced that no human being can please God by self-improvement, we believed in Jesus as the Messiah so that we might be set right before God by trusting in the Messiah, not by trying to be good.
17 Have some of you noticed that we are not yet perfect? (No great surprise, right?) And are you ready to make the accusation that since people like me, who go through Christ in order to get things right with God, aren’t perfectly virtuous, Christ must therefore be an accessory to sin? The accusation is frivolous.
18 If I was “trying to be good,” I would be rebuilding the same old barn that I tore down. I would be acting as a charlatan.
19 What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man.
20 Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
21 I am not going to go back on that. Is it not clear to you that to go back to that old rule-keeping, peer-pleasing religion would be an abandonment of everything personal and free in my relationship with God? I refuse to do that, to repudiate God’s grace. If a living relationship with God could come by rule-keeping, then Christ died unnecessarily.

Other religions other than Christianity corrupt the nature of the God of the Bible.  They also distort how we have relationship with God.

It is by God’s grace alone, through faith in Jesus alone.

 Ephesians 2:7-10 (MSG)
7 Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus.
8 Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish!
9 We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing!
10 No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.

So, today, I pray that you all are able to shout a resounding “THANK YOU” to God for His amazing love.  Because just like many of us did on Thanksgiving day, we were able to receive some food we did not prepare, and just say “Thank You” and then enjoy it.

It is always good to review the truth of the Gospel, and not let anything distort it so that others can enjoy God as well.  Make sure you know how to offer the untainted Gospel to others.  They need to enjoy the everlasting Bread!

Enjoy Him today, for Life is in Him alone,
