What We Believe

This is a brief view of what we believe.  We have been trying to remain faithful to the basics of what brings us into right relationship with God.  Our desire is that all might know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that our unity in Him would be visible to all.

We believe that the Bible is the very Word of God, that God led men to write exactly what He intended to be written.  It is our final authority to all matters that it speaks to.  (2 Timothy 3:16-17;  2 Peter 1:19-21;  Isaiah 8:20)

We believe that there is one and only one living and true God, who is an eternal Spirit, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of Heaven and Earth.  In the unity of the Godhead, there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are equal in every divine perfection, and perform distinct but harmonious offices in the wonderful work of redemption.  (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19-20; Revelation 1:4-6; Exodus 20:2-3; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

We believe God the Father is Father of all creation.  The Father sent Jesus to be the Savior of the world, and all those born again through a relationship with Jesus Christ have the privilege of having God as their Father.  ( I Corinthians 8:6; James 1:17; I John 4:14; Romans 4:11)

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who came as a human, to provide salvation for all mankind.  He is fully God and fully man, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.  After living a sinless life, He willingly  gave His life to die on the cross, as the perfect payment for the penalty of our sins.  We believe Jesus Christ was crucified, buried  and rose bodily from the grave on the third day, and is now seated in Heaven interceding for all believers.  (John 1:1-14; Matthew 1:18-25; I Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 9:24; Romans 8:34; Colossians 1:15-17)

We believe that the Holy Spirit is divine equal with the Father and Son.  In His relationship to the world, He restrains the evil one, that He convicts of sin , or righteousness and of judgment; that He bears witness to the truth of the Gospel,; that He is the agent in the New Birth; that He seals, endows, guides, teaches, witnesses, sets apart and helps the believer.  ( John 14:16-17; Matthew 20:19; Hebrews 9:14; John 14:26; Luke 1:35; Genesis 1:1-3; John 16:8-11; Acts 5:30-32; Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:14, 16, 26-27; I Corinthians 12:12-13)

We believe Satan is a created fallen being, that he is the unholy god of this age and the author of all the powers of darkness, and is destined to the judgment of an everlasting justice in the lake of fire.  (Matthew 4:1-3; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:10-15)

We Believe God directly created the heavens and the earth and all within according to the Genesis account.  Man was created in the image of God, and were to reflect God’s being in the earth and were to enjoy a personal relationship with Him.  (Genesis 1:27; Genesis 1, 2; Colossians 1:16-17; John 1:3)

We believe Adam and Eve chose to disobey God and as a result (apart from the grace of God), sin causes an eternal separation from God, and the final destination for all unbelievers is a literal Hell.  (Genesis 1:26; 2:17; John 5:40; Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 3:9-10, 19-23, 6:23; I John 3:8; Revelation 20:11-15)

We believe that salvation comes to man only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, apart from any human effort.  It is only through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, that salvation is possible.  Faith in Jesus Christ is the only condition of salvation.  We believe that those who are spiritually united to Christ are eternally secure in Him. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10, 13; John 1:12, 3:16, 36; 2 Timothy 1:9; Romans 3:20, 27-28; I Corinthians 1:29-31; I Peter 1:18-19; I John 5:12; Romans 4:21; John 5:24; Hebrews 7:25; John 10:27-29; Romans 8:35-39; I Peter 1:5)

We believe the true Church is the body of Christ which is composed of all believers.  It is a mystery of God, that is now to be united for the glory of God.  The local Church has the distinct privilege of gathering for the ultimate purpose of making disciples of Jesus Christ.  We believe in loving God first, and loving others as ourselves.  Baptism and communion are the two ordinances of the Church.  (Acts 2:41-42; I Corinthians  11:2; Ephesians 1:22-23; Acts 8:26-39; John 3:23; Romans 6:3-5; Matthew 3:16; Colossians 2:12; I Corinthians 11:23-28)

We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society; that leaders are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored, and obeyed; except in things opposing the will of our Lord Jesus Christ.  (Romans 13:1-7; 2 Samuel 23:3; Exodus 18:21-22; Acts 23:5; Matthew 22:21; Acts 5:20; Acts 4:19-20; Daniel 3:17-18)

We believe in the clear and certain personal return of Jesus Christ to his body, the church.  There will be resurrection of the righteous dead to be with Christ eternally, and a resurrection of the unbelieving dead for judgment and eternal condemnation.  ( I Thessalonians 4:13-17; I Corinthians 15:51-58; Matthew 24:37-44; Revelation 20:11-15; John 14:1-6)
